It is is indicated for the symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract disorders accompanied by Productive cough.
This preparation is a mixture of expectorant, decongestant and antihistamine. Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps to loosen mucus in chest and throat caused by common cold, infections, or allergies. Levomenthol helps to breathe more easily by relieving congestion. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. It is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, hives, skin rash, itching & other cold or allergy symptoms.
12 years & Above: 10mL (2 teaspoonful) 4 times a day or as directed by the physician.
With medicine : This product contains diphenhydramine and therefore may potentiate the effects of alcohol, codeine, antihistamines and other CNS depressants. As diphenhydramine possesses some anticholinergic activity, the effects of anticholinergics (e.g. some psychotropic drugs and atropine) may be potentiated by this product. This may result in tachycardia, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g. colic), urinary retention and headache.
With food & others : No interaction with any food & others.
This combination is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Guaifenesin, Levomenthol or Diphenhydramine. If Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) have been taken in the last two weeks this combination should not be taken. This combination is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
Common side effects : Side effects may include swelling of the face, lips and/or tongue, allergic reactions, numbness, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth/ nose/throat, nausea or vomiting etc.
Rare side effects : Difficulty in urination, less frequently it may cause palpitations, tremor, convulsions or paraesthesia. Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported, in particular, skin rashes, erythema, urticaria and angioedema, gastro-intestinal discomfort, nausea and vomiting have occasionally been reported particularly in large doses.
There are no specific data on use of this combination during pregnancy & lactation.
Gastric lavage in the conscious patient and intensive supportive therapy where necessary, as with cases of overdose with antihistaminic drugs.
