Septicemia, bacteremia & infections in immunosuppressed neutropenic patients with hematological malignancies, pneumonia, Severe urinary tract infections including pyelonephritis, Skin & soft tissue infections, Bone & joint infections, Infections in immunocompromised patients.
4th Generation Cephalosporin; Antimicrobial
1 gm b.i.d. maximum 4 gm daily by IV routeonly. Duration depends on response.
Known allergy to the Cephalosporin antibiotics.
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, pseudomembraneous colitis, abdominal pain, Superficial phlebitis, thrombophlebitis & infection site reaction.
The safety of Cefpirome has not been established in pregnancy & it should be administered with caution, especially during the early months of pregnancy. As Cefpirome is excreted in human breast milk, either Cefpirome treatment should be discontinued or breast feeding ceased.
