Levocetirizine is indicated for the relief of nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, the relief of symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria.
2nd Generation Antihistamine
This preparation contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride. Levocetirizine is the active (Levo) isomer of cetirizine. It is a new highly effective and well-tolerated nonsedating antihistamine with potent antiallergic properties. It has a two-fold higher affinity for H1 receptors than cetirizine. Levocetirizine has a rapid and long-acting action, allowing once-a-day administration.
ORAL Allergic conditions: Adult: As hydrochloride: 5 mg daily in the evening; 2.5 mg may be adequate in some patients. Max dose: 5 mg daily. Child: As hydrochloride: 6-11 yr: 2.5 mg once daily. Max dose: 2.5 mg daily. 12 yr: 5 mg once daily; 2.5 mg may be adequate is some patients. Max dose: 5 mg daily. All doses to be taken in the evening.
Levocetirizine is not known to have any interactions with other drugs.
Lactation. End-stage renal disease (CrCI <10 mI/min) or haemodialysis patients. Child 6-11 yr w/ renal impairment. Renal impairment. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.
Fatigue, somnolence, dry mouth, nasopharyngitis, pyrexia, cough, epistaxis.
This drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Caution is recommended for breastfeeding.
No clinically relevant adverse events have been reported in case of overdose. However in the event of overdosage, symptomatic and supportive treatment is recommended.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light.
