Raloxifene is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is also used for reduction of risk and treatment of invasive breast cancer, and it also reduces breast density.
Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator
ORAL Prophylaxis of postmenopausal osteoporosis: Adult: 60 mg daily.
Hypersensitivity; active or past history of venous thromboembolic events including DVT, pulmonary embolism & retinal vein thrombosis; hepatic & severe renal impairment. Pregnancy, lactation. CHF or active malignancy; history of oestrogen-induced hypertriglyceridaemia; renal insufficiency.
Hot flushes, leg cramps, sweating, sleep disorders, peripheral oedema, vag bleeding; flu-like symptoms, rashes, GI disturbances, hypertension, headache, sinusitis, arthralgia. Endometrial carcinoma & thromboembolic events.
Use is contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant. Use is not recommended in breastfeeding women.
