Pridinol Mesilate is indicated for the treatment of central and peripheral muscle spasms: lumbar pain, torticollis, general muscle pain, in adults.
Pridinol mesilate is a centrally-acting muscle relaxant used to treat the symptoms of muscle spasm. It is also used as the hydrochloride salt in the management of parkinsonism due to its antimuscarinic activity.
The recommended dosage for pridinol is 1.5-3 mg, to be taken three times a day. The length of administration is determined by the attending physician. The administration of the substance is not influenced by meals, and its commencement of action is expedited when taken before to meals. It is recommended to consume tablets with an adequate amount of liquids, such as a single glass of water, and to refrain from chewing them.
Pridinol Mesilate enhances the action of anticholinergics such atropine.
Glaucoma, prostate enlargement, syndrome with urine retention, gastrointestinal obstructions, arrhythmia, first trimester of pregnancy, hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of the excipients.
Dry mouth, thirst, transient visual disorder (mydriasis, difficulties with accommodation, photosensitivity, slight increase in intraocular pressure), redness and dryness of the skin, bradycardia followed by tachycardia, micturition disorders, constipation, and, very rarely, vomiting, dizziness, and unsteady gait are possible side effects. Less than 1 patient in 100 experiences additional adverse effects.
Pregnancy: In the first 3 months of pregnancy, Pridinol should not be taken. During the following months of pregnancy, Pridinol may be taken only after careful consideration under medical supervision and only if necessary.
Lactation: There is no data on the passage of Pridinol into human milk. So, using it during breastfeeding should be avoided.
Immediate medical attention is required in case of an overdose.
Keep at temperatures below 30°C and away from light and precipitation.
