Aldose reductase inhibitor
Epalrestat specifically inhibits aldose reductase and accumulation of sorbitol in the nerve; thereby improves subjective symptoms and nerve dysfunction in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (50 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, three times daily, before meal. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms.
There are no known drug interactions and none well documented.
Hypersensitivity. Pregnant or breastfeeding. Urine may turn yellowish brown or reddish after taking the medicine, because the yellowish brown or reddish color is attributed to components of this medicine.
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include abdominal pain, nausea, rash, itch, erythema and blister.
Pregnancy Category- Not Classified. FDA has not yet classified the drug into a specified pregnancy category
Do not store above 30°C temperature. Keep away from light and wet place. Keep out of reach of children.
