Phenylacetic Acid Derivative; NSAIDs/Antirheumatoid Drug
Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal drug with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which is involved in the production of prostaglandin. After oral administration, it is rapidly and completely absorbed an unchanged drug.
100 mg twice daily or 200 mg SR tablet once daily.
No significant drug interactions has not been observed but close monitoring of patients is required when it is used with:
Lithium and Digoxin: may increase plasma concentration of lithium and digoxin.
Diuretics: may interact the activity of diuretics.
Anticoagulants: may enhance the activity of anticoagulant.
Methotrexate: may increase the plasma level of methotrexate.
Peptic ulcer or gastric-intestinal bleeding. It should not be given to patients with moderate to severe renal impairment. Close medical surveillance is also imperative in patients suffering from severe impairment of hepatic function. It should not be prescribed during pregnancy, unless there are compellingreasons for doing so.
Dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea & diarrhea, dizziness. Dermatological complaints including pruritus & rash & abnormal hepatic enzyme levels & raised serum creatinine have occasionally been reported.
The regular use of NSAIDs during the last trimester of pregnancy may increase uterine tone & contraction. The use of Aceclofenac should therefore be avoided in pregnancy & lactation unless the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the possible risks to the fetus
keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
